NLP Study Group-January 2009 Summary

January's Group focused on the "provocative change process," one of the newest methods to surface in the field of NLP! A group of 8 explored the qualities of feelings. Some things that we found particularly interesting were:

  1. People seemed to get equal benefit from shifting weight and temperature of a feeling as they did with shifting movement. One of the latest processes developed deals with changing the movement of feelings. We'll probably present this at some point. So far we haven't heard of anyone doing the same thing systematically with weight or temperature (much less any other qualities that may exist). That we got equally impactful results from shifting these qualities opens up a lot more choices for shifting feelings. We wonder what other qualities might be useful to shift?
  2. One participant experienced that the slowed down voice increased his anxiety, whereas speeding it up grew to the point of ridiculousness that shifted the feeling. If we had more time, we'd be curious about exploring if his experience was in a different basic category from the others. Perhaps we could get some clues about when speeding up might be more appropriate than slowing down.

Thanks to all who were able to join our first study group! Hope to see you on February 25.
